End of Day Dismissal

Safety first when it comes to our students. At the end of the day, the school protocol is that students line up as a class with their teacher and then proceed toward the exit door of the school all together. Students in EDP are first in line and are sent to the gym first. Then the bussers are directed to their busses, and finally, the walkers meet their parent or guardian, if they do not walk home alone. In order for the teacher to know the whereabouts of all her students, it is imperative that students do not leave the exit line without permission. Doing so risks missing busses and other problems resulting from unsupervised students. Please remind your child of why he/she must follow protocol, here. Bathroom and drinks of water must be done quickly during the preparation to leave time, not once in the exit line, otherwise it holds up the entire class. Students need to remember to bring all their belongings over from Mme. Nixon's after lunch, so they are ready for the second half of the day. Students need to be responsible for getting ready quickly, when instructed, and remembering jackets, sweatshirts, hats, and indoor shoes (EDP). Once the exit line has left, students are not allowed to go back upstairs to get them without a supervising teacher. If your child is in EDP and has trouble remembering to bring down his/her indoor shoes, a solution might be to provide a separate pair of shoes for EDP only. Thank you for your support in keeping our end of day smooth and safe.
