TEACHER

Students always come first. I treat students ethically and equitably, with integrity and care, through a mutual building of respect and trust. I try to meet the needs and interests of every student. 

I strive to stay current in terms of student development, learning theory, pedagogy, curriculum, ethics, educational research and related policies and legislation.

I promote student learning through relevant pedagogy, assessment, evaluation, resources and technology. I believe in ongoing inquiry, dialogue and reflection for students and for myself.

I am an advocate for education and arts education in particular. I support collaborative, safe and supportive learning communities.

ONGOING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

I am committed to continual formal, informal, and self-directed learning. This digital portfolio in itself is an example of ongoing professional learning.

My original teaching qualifications are for the Intermediate/Senior levels. To broaden my knowledge base, I have recently completed the Additional Basic Qualification for the Junior level through Queen's University. Junior level considerations and reflections throughout this portfolio have been developed through this course.

Principal Qualification Program

I have recently completed Parts 1 & 2 of the Principal Qualification Program.

Digital Media courses

I am currently completing Adobe courses qualifying for the Digital Media Certificate, through Continuing Education, at Ontario College of Art and Design. Completed: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver.
